The Other Side of Sacrifice

Sometimes when we grow up we have a specific idea in our heads about the glamour of what we think to be the ultimate sacrifice. We see ourselves as part of a teary eyed movie that unfolds with us as the main character rescuing all those in need, all of those less fortunate, all of those who don’t have it as good as we do. It’s that idyllic glamour that might push us over the edge to actually reach out and do something good instead of just dreaming about it. But it isn’t the glamour that will sustain us when our hearts have grown cold to what has turned out as less than ideal.
